Paolo Balboni was born in 1948, grown up in South America and graduated in modern languages at Ca’ Foscari University, Venice.
He specialised in languages learning at UCLA and NYU and taught at Siena University and Ca’ Foscari where he is now senior researcher and professor ad honorem.
Since 80s, he has been promoting he Italian language abroad and training Italian teachers globally. He has been organising both training courses and master degrees, running hundreds of courses around the world, which enabled him to obtain a holistic vision of the evolution of the Italian language in the world in the last 40 years. He is president of the Fédération Internationale des Professeurs de Langues Vivantes.
Paolo also leads the Centre for Research in Educational Linguistics at Ca’ Foscari University which includes the ITALS Laboratory, Italian as a foreign language.
He runs several magazines and scientific journals and he wrote many research papers as well as developed learning material to teach Italian culture and language.
